Job Description

MAIN FUNCTION:

Responsible for delivering Patient trays on the units and providing good customer service to the Patients. May assist patients with computerized menu selection. General Kitchen duties such as dishroom, cafeteria, catering, and trayline could be required. Supply patient care areas with appropriate nourishments. Monitors, maintains and records food temperatures per policy and regulatory agencies following the HACCP guidelines for food safety on patient unit pantries. Reports to Supervisor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Gathers all tray delivery information to be prepared for tray delivery. Takes patient meal orders using tablets. 2. Communicates with the nursing unit regarding Patient diets and special needs. Assists Patients with any concerns about the tray or meal service.

** 3. Places food on patient trays according to patient selective menus; and places trays in proper location and sequence in cart, sets menu minder as needed. Prepares minor items for tray service. Requisitions food and supplies as needed.

4. Delivers trays to Patients making sure to double check the Patient name to the tray ticket.

** 5. Cleans counters, steam tables, cold tables, dining room tables and chairs, ovens, ranges, hoods and sinks. Transports soiled dishes for Doctor's Dining Room to conveyor.

6. Follows the tray delivery script to ensure high level of Customer Service. 7. Assembles Patient trays, loads carts and delivers carts to units. 8. Is responsible for providing appropriate floor stock items to pantries on assigned nursing units by following a PAR level for each item stocked on the unit. Items need to be accounted for and delivered according to the stocking schedule for each unit. 9. Must have diet knowledge and be competent with computer skills as well as a high level of customer service Skills.

**10. Maintains a clean and orderly work area.

**11. Assists in receiving and storing food and supplies. Portions food proper containers for distribution to patients.

**12. Delivers and returns retherm carts and soiled tray carts to and from patient areas and special meeting areas.

  1. Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position.

Employee understands and demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the customer/patient by interacting with him/her in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to the customer’s needs, both psychologically and physically, and by taking the initiative to maintain communication with the customer in order to provide a secure and pleasant experience with the Arnot Health.

EDUCATION:

High school or equivalent to satisfy job requirements.

EXPERIENCE:

Ability to read and understand food requirements for all dishes.

CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS:

No CPR required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Some physical effort or strain required. May involve lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching or stooping. Required to be on feet for long periods of time.

EXPOSURE CATEGORY:

Category III. Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. And Category I tasks are not a condition of employment.
