Navistar, Inc. Project Engineer Manager in Elmendorf, Texas

Position Overview

We are seeking a Project Engineer Manager in Test/Validation with laboratory and R&D experience who will lead a small team within the materials engineering (ME) team in the Product Development Process specifically providing core competencies and activities in terms of: Mechanical Testing / fasteners / fluid connects / sealing, assisting Root Cause Failure Analysis in cases of test or product issues, Quality Assurance.

Automotive Industry managing or leading a team with Experience working on Commercial Vehicles / Trucks or Engines is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Technical leadership in the core area of responsibility for a material laboratory team through leadership and coaching.

  • Applying engineering knowledge to supply technical support to design engineering, innovation, manufacturing, marketing, outside services, and vendors.

  • Contribute to internal queries and research projects, answering technical questions and issues.

  • Evolve Material engineering procedures and specifications in area of responsibility.

  • Lead projects and programs involving quality and cost savings.

  • Supporting development of the Materials engineering specifications, procedures, and standards for all of NAVISTAR.

  • Driving the full integration of the responsible team in Product Engineering Organization, especially for the upfront phases of product development through the proactive participation to the FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), PFMEA (Process FMEA) and DVP (Design Validation Plan) definition.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 5 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

OR

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 3 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

OR

  • PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
