The Salvation Army Maintenance Technician III in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania

 The Maintenance Technician III will maintain or repair related equipment, facilities and grounds as assigned by the Director of Facilities and Operations.  The Maintenance Technician III will assist in the set-up and ongoing operations of Camp Allegheny. The Maintenance Technician III will serve as back up in daily testing and recording of the Sewage Plant Operational requirements, and daily testing and recording of pool operational requirements.    

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs: Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, automotive and carpentry repairs  and diagnostics on all of Camp Allegheny's buildings and equipment.
  • Completes general building repairs and maintenance for interior and exterior finish   materials.
  • Maintain trash and recycling receptacles around the facility.
  • Assist with all custodial maintenance projects both during the summer season and during the off-season use. This will include the Dining Hall/Kitchen and Gym floors, bathrooms, service areas and other buildings as assigned by the Director of Facilities and Operations. 
  • The Maintenance Technician III will assist with the receipt of major food service deliveries as needed. This will include the proper placement of orders in storage areas as assigned.
  • Assist in the preparation of equipment, scenery and other special arrangements required for events held at Camp Allegheny.
  • The Maintenance Technician III may be required to assist with Divisional Events and/or property maintenance for events not held at Camp Allegheny or tasks associated with other properties in the Western Pennsylvania Division as assigned.
  • Communicates effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Devote full time to work diligently and to use best efforts to maintain, promote and advance the purpose and reputation of Camp Allegheny.
  • The above duties and responsibilities are not all inclusive and may be modified to include other job-related duties at the discretion of the supervisor.

     

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have valid PA state driver's license to operate automobiles.
  • All three PA Clearances required upon employment and thereafter upon renewal date: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Request for Criminal Record, and Fingerprint based federal criminal history. PA Mandated and Permissive Reporting and The Salvation Army's KeepSAfe training required.
  • Must have physical ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds without the aid of mechanical or electrical equipment. 
  • Must have general knowledge of following subjects:
    • Automobile mechanics and operations
    • Building and equipment repairs
    • Operation of building maintenance equipment
    • Computer operation and use including word processing and data base software.

Education and Experience:

Education - General high school education.

2-year college or technical school education

                        OR

5-year on the job comparable. Must be willing to train and obtain certified pool operator certification within 2 years
