JOB PURPOSE:

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement process for all direct and indirect materials and services required for DRB. This role involves developing and implementing purchasing strategies and leading and developing a team of buyers. The Purchasing Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and finance, to support our production and service goals. Together with their team, this role will proactively research savings opportunities, maintain responsible inventory levels, source alternative suppliers, and report on key departmental KPI’s.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and Execute Procurement Strategies: Create and implement procurement strategies aligned with the company’s production, financial objectives, and cost control goals. Leverage ERP analysis to drive purchasing decisions and execute departmental priorities efficiently.

  • Team Leadership and Mentorship: Lead and mentor a team of buyers, providing direction, support, and development opportunities to ensure efficient and effective procurement practices. Manage both remote and on-site team members to maintain consistent performance.

  • Supplier and Inventory Management: Identify, evaluate, and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiating contracts and terms to secure the best value. Create supplier scorecards and standards for quarterly evaluations, including quality, communication, on-time delivery, and pricing. Monitor inventory levels, forecast demand, and review the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system to address gaps, optimize purchasing efficiencies, and minimize excess stock.

  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure purchased materials meet company standards. Develop standard work processes to ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.

  • KPI Measurement and Reporting: Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement activities, supplier performance, cost savings, and inventory levels. Use data insights to drive continuous improvements.

  • Risk and Order Management: Oversee the placement of purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery of materials and services while identifying and mitigating risks related to supply chain disruptions, supplier reliability, and market fluctuations.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Market Research: Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and finance teams to align material requirements and budget constraints. Stay updated on market trends and potential suppliers to provide a competitive advantage.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position leads a team of buying and sourcing professionals.

Human relations

This position interacts with both internal and external customers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in the manufacturing or technology sectors, with three years of experience leading and developing others

  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and mentoring a team.

  • Proven experience in supplier relationship management, negotiation, and contract management skills.

  • Knowledge of inventory management practices and ERP systems.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Skilled in Microsoft office applications with, advanced experience with Microsoft Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • APICS/ASCM or ISM certifications preferred.

  • Experience in electronics or technology manufacturing.
