Carpenter Co. Forklift Operator in Elkhart, Indiana

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for aForklift Operatorin our ConsumerDepartment on 1stShift [6am - 2pm]at ourElkhart, Indianafoam manufacturing plant. This position is responsible to keep the production lines supplied with correct materials in a timely manner.This position is also responsible for moving finished products from the production line to the finished product area.

Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain daily communication with and take direction from Department Manager, supervisor, lead and/or other employees in the department toensure an orderly flow of materials and finished products.This positionwill alsomaintain organization of the raw materials and finished goods area (with a focus on First-In-First-Out process).

Additional Responsibilities of the Forklift Operator:

  • Safely operate a stand-up forklift, squeeze clamp and sit-down forklift
  • Stack finished product in accordance with Safe Stacking Policy
  • Use a hand scanner and help label boxes
  • Help out on the production lines or shipping area as production demands
  • Assist with quarterly inventory
  • Maintain Department Value or Order
  • Work at a fast pace with quality and attention to detail
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Skills / Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree preferred
  • At least one year manufacturing or warehouse experience preferred
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Must be able to use computerized equipment in day to day operations and have computer knowledge
  • Must be able to become forklift certified
  • Must have basic reading, writing and math skills.
  • Must be able to read and understand instructions, route slips and schedules in English
