Overview
Fairview Health Services is looking for a Certified Athletic Trainer Clinic Coordinator to work at the Fairview Elk River and Princeton Locations. This position approved for 64 hours every two weeks and is benefit eligible.
Responsibilities/Job Description
The athletic trainer clinic coordinator at Fairview Sports and Orthopedic Care is a member of a multi-disciplinary team in a specialized orthopedic and musculoskeletal clinic. This individual is responsible for safe and effective direct delivery of patient care including triage and coordination of care ranging from patient evaluation, care delivery, reassessment and discharge planning in collaboration with physician. Care delivery responsibilities include and are not limited to casting, bracing, assisting with procedures in office and instruction in self-care and home exercise programs.
Follows FV Medical Group Rooming Procedures, including taking vitals, detailed medical history
Assists in determination of level of care needed through injury assessment
Prepares patient and supplies for injection or other medical interventions and procedures
assists in appropriate referral to medical personnel; handles immediate care of injuries as needed (including concussion baseline and post injury assessment)
provides concussion testing education per ImPACT guidelines
communicates proper follow-up care to patients, family and any other medical support personnel
educates patient/family member in self-care, including home exercise program instruction as directed by physician
applies appropriate casting and bracing devices
knows all staff members’ responsibilities so that ability to move from one role to another is done in a seamless manner
ability to move patients to correct staff and facilitate their needs in all areas of care (including X-ray, lab, athletic training, physical therapy, hand therapy, chiropractic, primary care, and specialist services)
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with specialization in Athletic Training
Licensed as an athletic trainer with the MN Board of Medical Practice
Board of Certification Certified Athletic Trainer
3 years’ experience as an athletic trainer or combination of athletic training and other healthcare work such as CMA, Nursing Assistant, PT, PTA, LPN
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree
Membership of the National Athletic Trainers Association
Completion of ImPACT Concussion Certification
Supervisory experience and work within a variety of setting preferred. Public speaking experience preferred
