ITW Production Shift Lead - 3rd Shift - Technical Experience Required (Monday-Friday 10PM-6AM) in Elk Grove Village, Illinois

ITW Medical is comprised of two highly-respected medical product brands - Coeur & Filtertek – supplying medical devices and components to global medical device brands. GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY/SUPPORT :

  • Observe QA and Regulatory practices to ensure all work is done in compliance.

  • Attend daily, weekly, and monthly management meetings as needed.

  • Completes all special projects in a timely and professional manner.

  • Participates in special projects and/or other assignments as required.

  • Works overtime and odd schedules as required by workload

  • To serve as a member of the ITW Medical team in producing class II medical devices for distribution to our customers worldwide.

  • To practice and encourage courtesy and helpfulness among all team members.

  • To become fully trained in all areas of the work that is performed in specific production areas.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIITIES:

  • This position is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of automation and mold room technicians in the plant. Evaluate work centers and utilize manpower in a manner that will maximize efficiency, quality, and safety.

  • Make decisions on production and personnel matters to ensure a safe and orderly production environment.

  • Team leaders are responsible for correcting non-standard behavior. When disciplinary action is required, Human Resources and Production Manager are to be advised.

  • Promote Safety, Quality, and Production goals.

  • Ensure the equipment is always in good operating condition on shift.

  • Accountable for training of employees, work with employee to make sure they understand the job requirements and can perform the job

  • Any other duties as assigned by management.

  • Perform yearly reviews of employees on shift.

  • Verify employee punches in the payroll program. Keep accurate records of employee’s attendance.

  • Approve vacation time for the staff on their shift to ensure we maintain adequate staffing to meet customer requirements.

  • Responsible for all technical aspects of the injection molding and assembly automation operations, maximizing good component production by focusing on uptime and minimizing scrap.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair all equipment required for the processes related to automation and molding

  • Setup and operate molding machines, automation and support equipment

  • Work closely with operators on shift to ensure proper operation of equipment

  • Responsible for assigned preventive maintenance tasks

  • Determine the root cause of known technical issues and implement corrective actions

  • Document work performed in the appropriate format according to the quality system

  • Assist Quality with finding and implementing corrective actions from customer rejections

  • Communicate with other shifts, operators, and technicians to give and receive updates on equipment status

  • Ability to accommodate occasional flexible schedule when required

  • Good manufacturing practices

  • Knowledge of QMS Documents that relate to the role

  • Knowledge of Environmental Health & Safety

  • Compliant with OSHA regulations.

TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure all grinders, parts washers, feeder bowls, hoppers, presses, assembly machines, dyers, hoses, are in good operating condition during shift.

  • Setup molding machinery and support equipment when required.

  • Work closely with operators to ensure proper operation of equipment.

  • Setup of automation presses or assembly machines.

  • Set up and debug new automation as needed.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair various assembly, automation, and mold equipment.

  • Assist with scheduled preventative maintenance functions for molding and assembly.

  • 3-5 years of related experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment overseeing production

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

  • Working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and electric systems

  • Familiarity with automated assembly and sonic welding preferred

  • Able to read and interpret blueprints

  • Willingness/ability to attend formal training courses to learn PLC troubleshooting if needed

  • Must possess good communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills

Comprehension/Reasoning Skills

  • Knowledge of the Medical room requirements.

  • Strong knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office software products. Ability to create and maintain Excel spreadsheets, charts, and graphs preferred.

  • Requires detailed analysis and strong problem-solving abilities.

Math Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to compute ratios and percentages.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to maintain an attitude of professionalism when dealing with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
