Misumi USA Manufacturing Engineering Intern in Elk Grove Village, Illinois

The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will be involved in supporting a variety of continuous improvement initiatives at MISUMI's distribution warehouse in Elk Grove Village.  

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of lean manufacturing action plans 

  • Conduct analysis of production and technical data in support of project initiatives 

  • Support of standard work implementation and validation

  • Utilize engineering design process to improve operational flows and processes 

  • Participate, support and prepare for general Kaizen Events 

  • Contribute to cell layout development and implementation including process layout, visual management, safety validation, etc.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned 

Qualifications 

  • Currently enrolled in a four year Mechanical Engineering Bachelors Program 

  • Have at least one year of engineering coursework completed 

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of key mechanical design and manufacturing principles- such as Statics, Dynamics, Mechanical Design, Thermodynamics, Materials and Heat Transfer

  • Able to extract critical data and analyze data to make informed decisions 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and advanced MS Excel skills 

  • Knowledge of 3D Solid Modeling software such as SolidWorks

  • Ability to create and interpret drawings and specifications 

  • Detail oriented and self-motivated
