Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Sr. Accountant role in the non-profit sector. The position is based in Elk Grove, California. The Sr. Accountant will be responsible for preparing financial statements, analyzing information, preparing general ledger entries, maintaining records, and developing accounting procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and consolidate financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from various departments

• Analyze information and options by developing spreadsheet reports and verifying the information

• Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files, and reconciling accounts

• Prepare payments by accruing expenses, assigning account numbers, requesting disbursements, and reconciling accounts

• Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes

• Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data

• Provide accounting support for organizational changes by reviewing financial information, converting data to general ledger system, and obtaining supplementary information for preparing financial statements

• Maintain confidentiality and protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential

• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations

• Accomplish accounting and organizational mission by completing related results as needed

• Maintain the Fixed Asset and associated depreciation schedules; ensure proper recording of new purchases and disposals

• Assist in various administrative tasks including preparing mailings, maintaining files, and preparing correspondence within the department

• Assist in processing rent payments, sending out monthly invoices and statements, and managing other real estate projects as needed

• Assist in developing financial reports for the organization and its entities

• Collaborate with various teams in gathering and presenting data relevant to accreditation standards

• Perform other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time.

Skills: Financial Statement, Financial Statement Preparation, Financial Statements Consolidation, General Ledger, Bank Reconciliations, Account Reconciliation, Accrued Expenses. Requirements • Proven experience in a similar role within a non-profit organization

• Proficiency in Financial Statement Preparation and Financial Statements Consolidation

• Advanced understanding of General Ledger management

• Extensive experience with Bank Reconciliations and Account Reconciliation

• Knowledge in handling Accrued Expenses

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Solid organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines

• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• Relevant professional certifications such as CPA would be advantageous.
