Position Summary:The Industrial Electrician work will consist of installs, services and repairs wiring, conduits, fixtures, and other electrical devices and systems in an industrial or commercial setting. This individual will have the ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and specifications in order to provide troubleshooting and repair services. The Industrial Electrician will also routinely perform preventative maintenance on all equipment and components in order to ensure the continued safe, efficient and effective operations of all equipment and fixtures utilized by the organization. The Industrial Electrician is overseen by the Electrical Supervisor or Project Manager.

  1. Install, test, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices, and equipment.2. Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, electrical code specifications, and schematics in order to effectively troubleshoot, maintain and repair equipment.3. Diagnose, locate the cause of, and repair malfunctioning systems and components using test equipment.4. Perform preventative maintenance through inspection of electrical systems, equipment, and components.5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records.6. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and7. fixtures.8. Direct and train other workers and apprentices to install, maintain, or repair electrical9. wiring, equipment, and fixtures.10. Work on other electrical projects as required.11. Ensure all work performed adheres to all relevant organizational, provincial and federal safety regulations, codes, and specifications. 12. Receives instructions from supervisor.13. Abides by all OSHA and Houck safety guidelines.14. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Competencies1. Able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.2. Perform work in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements.3. Conduit bending by hand with hand bender.4. Strong troubleshooting skills5. Identification of wire colors6. Operation of all power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, and knockout punches.7. Ability to understand and implement NFPA 70E Electrical Safety in the Workplace8. Physical DemandsPhysical demands are based on the ability to perform the following actions throughout an 8-12 hour period of work for a 4-7 day work week.

  1. Will be required to regularly stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs and ladders.2. Will be required to regularly drive.3. Regular lifting and moving of up to 50 lbs.4. Exert oneself physically over long periods of time.5. Bend stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, and other extremities.6. Required Education and Experience1. High school degree or GED equivalent required2. Trade school degree, apprenticeship or experience3. Individual has 2-5 years’ experience as an electrician or knowledge base equivalent to an electrician with 2-5 years’ experience.4. Must be at least 18 years of age.

TravelTravel is regular but primarily local. Some out of state travel required.
