Gellert Global Group Warehouse Supervisor/Trainer (2nd Shift) in Elizabeth, New Jersey

S ummary/Objecti v e:

The Warehouse Supervisor/Trainer contributes to the continuous improvement, training and

development of new and tenured Selectors through one-on-one training. They will provide

performance improvement solutions through timely feedback, coaching and mentorship. They

will partner with Warehouse Operations, corporate subject matter experts (SME), Operations

Manager, and Director of Operations to drive performance metrics and improvements.

This role develops new hires during multi-week training and is responsible for assimilating,

onboarding and assessing new as well as existing talent. The Warehouse Supervisor/Trainer

conducts employee training needs, identifies opportunities to improve warehouse safety,

productivity and retention through observation and follow up.

Essential Functions:

  • Educates employees in proper safety procedures, safe work practices and policies.

  • Measure and report the effectiveness of warehousing activities and employee performance

  • Monitor performance issues and error rate; identify trends and improve processes to resolve

  • Train assembly/picking staff on new procedures to reduce errors and improve performance

  • Ensure shipments' and inventory transactions' accuracy

  • Communicate job expectations and coach employees

  • Work with operations management to determine staffing levels and help assign workload

  • Identify areas to improvement and establish new or adjust existing work procedures and practices

  • Collaborate and coordinate activities with other departments

  • This role may require off shift and weekend work

  • Provides active and positive leadership in the effort to drive the culture across the facility

  • Owns all warehouse training for new and tenured Selectors, with emphasis on the first 90   days of Selector training

  • Administers and coordinates all aspects of onboarding and training including scheduling  resources, conducting classroom training, performing observations, acting as SME on   process and milestones, etc.

  • Provides actionable performance and behavioral feedback and coaching in classroom and on  the job environments.

  • Analyzes and tracks associate performance 30/60/90 days out of new hire training to ensure  performance expectations are met

  • Collects data to determine effectiveness, retention, and sustainability of training for the  continuous improvement of the program

  • Ensures individual order selectors and the entire shift are following preferred methods and  meeting rates

  • Reports out performance and retention data to Operations Manager regularly and provides  training recommendations and strategies based on trends

  • May consult in the interview, hire, performance review, discipline, and termination process   in collaboration with the Director of Operations, Warehouse Manager, and Operations   Manager to ensure all training needs are aligned, relevant, and delivered as expected

  • Regularly inspects facility for safety hazards, product damages, and either resolves them or  reports them to the operations manager or Inventory department, as appropriate. Jointly  accountable (with warehouse leadership) for maintaining the physical condition of the  warehouse and its equipment and inventory.

    Skills:

  • Proven work experience as a Warehouse/Shipping Manager

  • Knowledge of WMS software and MS Office proficiency

  • Ability to input, retrieve and analyze data

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Proven to ability to direct and coordinate operations

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Lead by example with positive attitude

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to work 2nd shift (1pm – 11pm)

  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with a unionized workforce

  • Standing and walking for long periods of time

  • Operate mobile equipment (single pallet jack, order picker, double reach, and pacer)

  • Occasional bending, lifting and/or moving a case up to 80 LBS.

  • Ability to work in an ambient, refrigerated, and frozen warehouses.
