Job Overview:

TheFood Service Worker Senioris responsible to serve meals to patients in a professional, efficient manner and explain to patients the room service meal ordering process, provide menu based on diet prescription, and evaluate patient s capability to utilize room service system. In addition, this position will assist patients with meal order, check that all patients have ordered and received meals, and communicate if patient is refusing meals. Finally, the role is responsible to pick up trays post meal and bring trucks back to kitchen.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Fluent in English speaking, reading and writing

  • Good communication skills and people friendly

  • Must be detailed oriented, open and willing to learn

  • Flexible hours, available holidays and weekends

  • Able to move small and large food service truck around

Preferred:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or two year associate degree preferred

Essential Functions:

  • Collects the final tray list for assigned patient units from Communication center clerk for each meal

  • Checks meal delivery trucks for supplies/condiments

  • Serves meals to patients in a professional, efficient manner and check patient s wristband for identification

  • Visits new admissions or changed diets; explains room service meal process and give menu to match the diet order

  • Visit diabetic patients and assures meals ordered and delivered as per medication policy

  • Assesses patient s ability to utilize room service and follow up with nurse/dietitian if unable to participate

  • Assists patient s in ordering meals when requested, offers pre-select meal sheets choice to patient/family and collect the same for communication center to process meal

  • Collect dirty tray from patient s room into the truck and bring truck to dish room after each meal time

  • Process diet requisition retrieved from nursing stations

  • Delivers between meal nourishments to patients

  • Mediates patients concerns regarding meal service

  • Acts as a liaison between food & nutrition department, the patient and the nursing staff

  • Takes ownership of a problem and ensures a positive outcome

  • Assists supervisor in portioning food, coffee or silverware

  • Serves as a quality assurance control point for every aspect of the room service program

  • Checks off patient s name on Tray List upon tray delivery and records time of delivery

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • All hourly employees are to work every other weekend

  • All part time positions are hired for variable shifts
