Job Summary:
Assist the faculty to proctor course exams during the day.
Qualifications:
Required:
HS diploma
Intermediate knowledge of MS Word and Excel
Cannot be a current student of Trinitas School of Nursing or Union County College
Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
Preferred:
Associate degree in any major
Knowledge of medical terminology
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- BLS from the American Heart Association upon hire
Scheduling Requirements:
Per Diem
Able to work a flexible schedule to include weekdays and some Saturday assignments
Exam hours are from 3 4 hours per exam
Essential Functions:
This position reports to the Associate Dean.
Under the direction of course faculty:
Proctors a variety of tests, including but not limited to unit and final examinations, standardized exams such as the ATI or similar exams (training is required for certification to administer exams).
Maintains confidentiality and security of all testing materials.
Sets up the test environment and ensures that the room is properly set-up, spacing the desk far apart.
Make available supplies needed for testing, such as calculators, pencils, etc. Collect and return to source when done. Sharpens pencils for the next exams.
Check the identification of students, seat them and take attendance.
Assists in the distribution and collection of test materials.
Provides aid to examinees in the completion of demographic information (if required) before starting the test.
Controls admission to and from the testing room.
Monitors students during test sessions to ensure a secure testing environment.
Reports of suspected irregularities or cheating immediately to the faculty in charge of the testing session.
Prepares documentation of observed cheating or dishonesty as requested by faculty.
Stay vigilant and circulates around the room, maintaining silence and ensuring that no cheating occurs.
When a student asks for clarification on the test, the proctor refers him/her to the course faculty
Escort a student to the washroom, ensuring that no material is taken out of and into the examination room and the student returns to the room in a timely manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Staff / Student Interaction- Maintains respect for students' rights and confidentiality, including The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Demonstrates professionalism and sensitivity when interacting with students. Tactfully handle rude and/or confrontational students. Able to handle discretionary and confidential information. Arrives on time at the work station. Able to understand and follow directions/instructions and work independently.
Accountability- Notifies the Associate Dean if unable to fulfill agreed upon commitments. Confers with the Associate Dean in the event that he/she is unable to fulfill position responsibilities. Communicate with Administration, staff and course faculty as needed.
