Job Description

The IRC is on the ground in more than 40 countries, providing emergency relief, relocating refugees and rebuilding lives in the wake of disaster. Through 26 regional offices in cities across the United States, the IRC helps refugees resettle and become self-sufficient. Our programs are designed to ensure refugees thrive in America--whether ensuring children are enrolled in school, adults become self-reliant through employment or starting businesses, or families receive acute medical care they need to recover from trauma or illness. The IRC helps those in need to rebuild their lives and regain control of their future in their new home community.

Scope of work

  1. The clinical supervisor will coordinate closely with IRC staff and supervise externs to ensure clients referred for mental health and psychosocial support services (MHPSS) are provided in a high quality and trauma-informed manner.

  2. Clinical supervisor will provide individual and group supervision to three to six doctoral level psychology externs completing their externship at the International Rescue Committee in New Jersey.

  3. Clinical supervision will follow all required guidelines set forth by the American Psychological Association (APA).

    Deliverables:

  • Provide weekly group supervision to clinical psychology externs, as required by APA.

  • Provide individual group supervision to clinical psychology externs, as required by APA.

  • Serve as point of contact for mental health emergencies that arise among IRC clients. Primary point of contact at IRC will be deputy director and/or health and wellness coordinator.

  • Provide ongoing training and support to psychology externs to ensure they are providing culturally competent and trauma-informed services.

  • Review applications, interview and engage in selection of externs for upcoming academic year.

    Qualifications

    Requirements:

  • Licensed psychologist in the state of New Jersey

  • Experience providing trauma-informed, culturally competent MHPSS services to refugees and other humanitarian entrants. #LI-REMOTE
