Job Summary and Qualifications

Responsible for maintaining the Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare (LPDSH) facilities Ethics and Compliance program, under the direction of the Division ECO and reporting to each respective hospital Chief Executive Officer. Conducts training sessions as appropriate and becomes involved in committees which support each hospital’s program. Conducts regular reviews and audits of hospital processes and practices to ensure compliance with overall program. Maintains a proactive approach to the hospital’s E&C program making suggestions for improvement of processes and/or training. Must have excellent communication skills. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office software (Excel, Word etc.) Must have clear knowledge of E&C program and policies. Must maintain confidentiality at all times. Must have some knowledge or have the ability to obtain compliance information for regulatory agencies as it relates to the E&C program. Must have the ability to maintain an objective approach to situation involving E&C Compliance.

  • You will participate in committees which support the hospital’s program

  • You will conduct regular reviews and audits of hospital processes and practices.

  • You will ensure compliance with overall EAC program.

  • You will have the ability to retrieve, communicate and present data and information verbally and in writing is essential.

  • You will have a professional demeanor and the ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership, employees, physicians and other stakeholders is essential.

  • You will maintain a proactive approach to the hospital’s E&C program making suggestions for improvement of processes and/or training.

  • You will coordinate and support Compliance Process Reviews (CPRs) and monitor implementation of corrective action plans resulting from such reviews

  • You will investigate compliance related concerns, including but not limited to, internal and external ethics cases, HIPAA/HITECH violations, controlled substance discrepancies, and ADA complaints

  • You will facilitate the resolution of major compliance related issues and/or compliance efforts.

  • You will provide leadership for the E&C Program within the Market

  • You will understand the Code and E&C Policies;

  • You develop and implement a system to inform Division ECO of the status of ethics and compliance issues at Market facilities;

  • You will periodically visit facilities to assess implementation of the E&C Program and provide guidance, as appropriate, to facility ECOs to improve the effectiveness of their programs;

  • You will participate in Facility Ethics and Compliance Committee (FECC) meetings of Market facilities to assist in accomplishing the E&C Program mission;

  • You will review FECC minutes from facility FECCs;

  • You will conduct CPRs for facilities within the Market (e.g., mock CPRs on years when a facility will not receive a CPR from Corporate or Division ECO).

  • You will review Internal Audit reports and other investigation reports to assure appropriate corrective and preventative actions have been taken;

  • You will identify trends related to ethics and compliance within the Market.

  • You will work in conjunction with Division ECO to develop strategies and/or policies and procedures to operationalize compliance with regulations and E&C policies;

  • You will support facilities within the Market with understanding and implementing E&C Policies;

  • You will serve as a resource to facility leadership for advice and interpretation of the Code and E&C Policies;

  • You will encourage reporting without fear of retribution;

  • You will coordinate with assigned Ops Counsel as necessary on ethics and compliance matters;

  • You will perform Ethics and Compliance employee orientation and refresher training, as necessary;

  • You will be familiar with the responsibilities of Facility Privacy Officials (FPO) and assist as necessary with investigation of patient privacy issues;

  • You will be familiar with the responsibilities of Facility Information Security Official (FISO) and assist as necessary with information security issues;

  • You will provide guidance to facilities with Reportable Issue submissions and follow up;

  • You will monitor compliance training requirements for employees (i.e. Code of Conduct Training, EMTALA, Physician Relationships) to ensure timely completion

What qualifications you will need:

  • 3-5 yrs Working knowledge of corporate compliance program(s) and healthcare laws and regulations;

  • 3-5 years of experience in healthcare compliance

  • Three years director-level leadership experience.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, HR, or other related area required
