Day in the Life of Product Manager Training

Leads the strategic planning effort across multiple markets/business units to commercialize end-user training and make this a source of sustaining revenue for Fluke in EMEA.

As the Fluke Product Manager Training, you work on a variety of projects, all supporting either the sales of our training products or the use of them. Training offerings include online as well as classroom-style courses. Both customized sessions as well as standard courses are offered. One day you could be in the field working with a certified training partner to further develop the business and the next day you could be developing a training course on how reseller partners and internal sales staff can best sell and market a specific Fluke training course. The Product Manager Training interacts frequently with colleagues in both the Advanced Technology Group, Marketing, and Sales organizations. End-user contacts are essential to ensure content that is available or being developed resonates with customers. The Product Manager Training is successful If they can ensure Sales can effectively sell the training products and customers appreciate the content.

Responsibilities

In this role, extensive field experience in training is critical as well as good strategic thinking skills. Responsibilities include, and are not limited to:

  • Develop concept of portfolio selling (PLCM) and “training as-a-product” line logic.

  • Own the training revenue number.

  • Create strategy and value propositions for learning for different audiences (end customers, channels, employees)

  • Manage and build relationships with 3rd party training vendors.

  • Leverage universities and technical schools for educational offerings.

  • Hardware versus software training

  • Conducting sales training needs assessments to ensure the training products can be effectively sold.

  • Analyze customer training needs to determine requirements for new content development.

  • Develop marketing plans to drive the implementation of new training content, in line with the organization’s strategic priorities.

  • Responsible for managing the entire life cycle of the training products.

  • Handling all logistical setup of new training SKUs, including pricing, in the corporate and ETIM systems.

  • Design and produce training course sales and marketing support materials.

  • Work closely together with Sales and Product Program Managers to ensure maximum visibility of training offerings.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with external training partners.

  • Manage direct reports in the regions that are responsible for either delivering content and/or those that provide “classroom session” logistical support.

    Your Team

You are working in an international team. Colleagues are located in the Netherlands, the UK, and Germany. All have extensive backgrounds and experience in their respective fields and are working very independently.

Experience

As you will be the training “subject matter expert” we ask for the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, or proven level thereof

  • Proven background and/or experience in adult learning

  • Fluent in English and at least one other language.

  • Have experience with creating (learning) content in today’s software

    Personal Skills

  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Comfortable to talk to a variety of customers and partners in different circumstances.

  • A high level of independence and ability to “self-educate” as in this role continuous education is a must.

  • Ability to explain difficult topics in a way that fits the level and needs of the other party.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud.
