Philips Audio Processing Algorithm and Software Engineer in Eindhoven, Netherlands

For our Audio standardization projects, we are looking for an Audio Processing Algorithm and Software Engineer. (S)he will support standardization efforts with SW prototypes and demonstrators of audio algorithms that must be implemented within the framework of the relevant (external) standardization bodies.

Your role:

  • Creates signal processing software: design, implement, test, integrate, deploy, and document, including porting of prototype code from MATLAB/Python.

  • Maintains and updates existing implementations: analyze, test, debug, modify, and improve signal processing algorithms.

  • Uses state-of-the-art technologies and practices.

  • Interacts with internal and external stakeholders to define or adjust requirements, necessary modifications, work items, tasks, and code reviews.

  • Keeps abreast of technical developments and practices in own field through literature, courses/trainings, technical contacts, and competitive environment.

  • Applies Agile software development methods as a member of Agile teams, as well as being able to work flexibly in a dynamic setting influenced by external parties or consortia.

You're the right fit if:

  • Signal processing algorithm experience, preferably in the audio domain, in the fields of codecs (think of MP3, AAC, aacPlus, EVS, MPEG-H and Dolby Atmos), AR/VR, audio rendering, acoustics simulation, and/or speech enhancement.

  • Excellent communication skills and team spirit, capable of working ad-hoc in collaboration with researchers, and when requirements and priorities are in flux.

  • At least 5 years of experience in C and C++ programming, preferably with C++17 (ISO/IEC 14882:2020) concepts.

  • Programming for real-time, multi-threaded audio processing.

  • Windows PC platform, affinity with Linux and MacOS is a pre.

  • Test-driven development.

  • Experienced with git.
