DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Automotive Mechanic with the Pennsylvania State Police, you will perform repair and replacement of suspension components, various brake systems, electrical systems, cooling systems, engine repair, and fuel systems. In this position, you will also perform annual state inspections for safety and emissions on vehicles. By performing inspection repairs, you will ensure compliance with specifications. Additionally, you will road test vehicles and complete inspection stickers and related records and reports.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment (37.5-hour work week) Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $39,785.00 (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; or Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

Special Requirements:

This position requires employees to hold a current and valid Pennsylvania Class C driver's license for operation of specific equipment, in order to meet operational needs.

This position requires employees to hold a Class 1 Certified Inspection Mechanic Certificate.

Additional Requirement:

You must be able to perform essential job functions.
