MAG Mechanical Engineer in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey

Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support product development, sustainment, integration and modernization for Department of Homeland Security equipment used at border crossings and airports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Perform Hardware and/or software integration, development, and operation for experimental purposes of explosive characterization research.

  • Prepare test items and specimens as needed in accordance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Develop SOPs for the production and validation of new test articles, methods, and standards, sample preparation, operation of equipment, recording data, data reduction and analysis, data storage, and reporting.

  • Develop specialized test articles and test phantoms to serve as an imitation or representation of a specific threat article, threat condition, or performance characteristic associated with the technology being tested.

  • Develop or revise methods of quality assurance and quality control that support the operation of the applied research laboratories.

  • Develop or modify scientific apparatus which improves or adds to the capabilities of the BDL or SDL.

  • Maintain lists of laboratory equipment and supporting materials and test objects.

  • Operate threat detection equipment to measure ‘material properties and/or determine detectability of contraband materials.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • 6 years experience of as a Mechanical engineer

  • Experience in Mechanics/3D printing of test articles, fixtures, and jigs to support applied R&D.

  • Knowledge and experience using SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software.

  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering

Clearance

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance and DHS Suitability clearance

Desired Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Engineering
