GeoVerra Geomatics Technician in Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta

We are seeking a talented Geomatics Technician to join our fun and fast-paced Production team in a hybrid role, located in Edmonton or Calgary, AB.  This position will be responsible for processing survey data and working with tight deadlines to meet creative and exciting project deliverables.

 

What you will do:

 

  • Process survey data using Trimble Business Center and monitor procedures used by field crews to collect survey data.

  • Perform survey calculations using both GNSS and conventional survey methods.

  • Perform legal calculations for the property line based on the legal survey plans.

  • Perform control network adjustment on the RTK / Conventional / Level data.

  • Generate topographic surface based on the processed data.

  • Survey calculation for piles, anchor bolts, foundation, grading based on client supplied IFC drawings for survey layout.

  • Create alignments and corridors as per client supplied IFC drawings.

  • Earthwork volume calculations as per survey data and grading plan

  • Preparation of files for field layout including CSV, RXL, DXF, TTM.

  • Use standard survey practices efficiently to draft accurate sketch plans from information gathered in the field and office.

  • Redline as built drawings.

  • Prepare reports as per scope of work e.g. Stakeout, Pre-pour, and As-built reports.

  • Maintain familiarity with current techniques and developments.

  • Ensure that the quality and accuracy of all plans for which you have responsibility meet the GeoVerra standards before they are delivered for checking.

  • Able to work with CAD Team leads and establish priorities and complete work duties with limited supervision.

    What you will bring:

     

  • Post-secondary training in a Survey/Geomatics, Civil Engineering program, Geomatics Engineering Technologist certificate or other relevant technical training/experience in a related field. 

  • Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related software in the preparation of survey related plans.

  • At least 3 to 5 years’  experience with Trimble Business Centre and other survey calculation software.

  • Experience with MicroSurvey StarNet for least square adjustment is an asset.

  • Experience in processing and cleaning UAV orthophotography is an asset.

  • Experience with MS Excel is an asset.

  • An understanding of the basic principles of surveying and survey plan requirements.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.

  • Ability to work well as part of a team or on an individual basis.

  • The capacity to learn new software and be open to new ideas.

  • Ability to identify and set priorities, effective time management.

  • Strong attention to detail.
