Ameresco Construction Manager, Edmonton Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta

Ameresco currently has a new opportunity for a Construction Manager based near , Edmonton, Alberta Canada. This position is reporting to the Director, Western Operations. The successful candidate will be located at a Federal Government client site near Edmonton, Alberta for a construction schedule of approximately 30 months.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily construction, administrative and technical management of renewable construction projects delivering energy savings for public, institutional, government and commercial customers.

  • Assist the Senior Project Manager in managing vendors and subcontractors to ensure quality control, and project delivery is on time and on budget while meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

  • Assist the Engineering team and the Senior Project Manager in project design and development including scope, subcontractor selection, cost estimation, installation and project scheduling.

  • Coordinate tender document preparation and approvals.

  • Review solicited subcontractor and vendor bids to help determine scope, schedule, timely delivery for all project related materials, equipment and construction services.

  • Plan, coordinate and manage specific aspects of on-site project construction activities from implementation to commercial operation, commissioning and acceptance.

  • Create and review Requests For Information (RFIs), Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and Contemplated Change Notices (CCNs).

  • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with the contract documents, approved design, manuals, procedures, and engineering practices.

  • Support to maintain and update project schedule to reflect current information, monitor critical path activities and tracking of outstanding items.

  • Develop and create contingency plans, as required, to safeguard the execution of the project within the project schedule.

  • Provide timely updates of risks and issues to the Senior Project Manager and Design/Engineering teams.

  • Develop and maintain project cost/change controls, and project budget and accounting records for invoicing and reconciliation.

  • Assist in managing and reviewing the progress of subcontractors’ construction schedules and invoices.

  • Report the onsite project status to business and project stakeholders to accurately create forecasts and schedules.

  • Attend and lead on-site construction, subcontractor, and site safety meetings as required.

  • Develop site specific safety plans and emergency response plans

  • Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, and codes;

  • Foster positive and effective business relationships at all levels and project phases; and

  • Perform other duties, or travel, as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years heavy commercial/industrial power, electrical, mechanical, or engineering construction management experience focusing on complex facility infrastructure construction, renovations, retrofits, upgrades, building controls and automation, and energy services.

  • Must have current First Aid certification prior to starting on site.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Completion or progress toward engineering, technical, or industry-related education preferred.

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite of Tools including MS Word, Excel, Project

  • Strong verbal, written, computer, technical communication and presentation skills

  • Familiar with National Master Specification tender documents

  • Familiar with Alberta COR, ISO 45001 or other safety standards

  • Proven experience with Alberta safety standards, additional safety certifications and courses through Alberta Construction Safety Association or another accredited provider,

  • Leadership through Safety Excellence (LSE) through Alberta Construction Safety Association

  • Proven understanding of project management standards, principles and methodologies;

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and foster positive business relationships

  • Experience with project risk assessment / management

  • Conceptual planning

  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills

  • Leadership ability

  • Multi-tasking ability

  • Required to obtain Federal Reliability Status security clearance as a condition of employment.

  • Must have valid class 5 Alberta drivers’ license, in good standing.
