Position Description The Manager of System Engineering for Diagnostic Imaging (DI) drives System Engineering execution excellence across the DI product portfolio while maintaining technical ownership of DI product designs and executing upon product and technical roadmaps. Serving as a bridge between leadership strategy and tactical project execution, this individual partners with Product and Program Management to lead new product development, sustaining engineering, and advanced technology programs for the DI segment, while collaborating with the Cardiovascular System Team to champion innovation and functional excellence across platforms. Planning and Strategy: Lead a team of system engineers to deliver products and services based on customer needs as defined by the product roadmap. Collaborate with the Chief Engineer to define the technology roadmap across the BMT portfolio that enables delivery of the product roadmap. Collaborate with the DI Divisional Director of Product Management and Program Manager to ensure prioritization of Sustaining Engineering, New Product Development, and New Technology development projects and ensure projects are supported with appropriate resources. Translate business and customer needs to product requirements and develop objective criteria to demonstrate that these have been met. Ensure the infrastructure and processes exist for having testable and traceable requirements. Ensure product development processes are continuously improved to ensure the systems team is delivering with optimum efficiency. Support the development of the DI Product Roadmap as well as BMT's Diagnostic Imaging 5-year Strategic Plan. Collaborate with the Cardio-Vascular segment to ensure common technologies are identified and leveraged through the BMT product portfolio to maximize product development efficiency. Collaborate with Program and Product Management to develop project and departmental budgets, determine timelines, and establish accomplishment milestone to measure progress of programs. Lead the technical development of products and ensure the on-time development of new diagnostic imaging medical device products that meet quality and customer requirements. Develop and leverage partnerships effectively with cross functional teams including Marketing, Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory to achieve business results. People Leadership: Lead and provide direction to a highly functional team of professionals responsible for the development of BMT medical device products. Lead the DI Systems team through proactive communication, effective change management and strategy alignment. Communicate BMT's corporate objectives, goals, directives, and policies to the Systems team, creating a clear vision and positive, team-oriented environment. Create a culture of innovation and excellence in a fast-paced, lean environment Recruit, hire, develop and manage system engineers to accomplish business goals and empower employee success. Ensure that team resources are aligned and driven to achieve project milestones and corporate initiatives. Functional/Technical Leadership: Provide technical engineering leadership and mentoring to ensure new product development projects remain on schedule, within budgets, meet end-use performance criteria, and fully conform to established design control and related FDA/ISO compliance criteria. Ensure rigorous documentation for all phases of development, including design specifications, verification/validation test plans, and project schedules. Participate in the selection of vendors and fabrication sources. Work with the operations team to promote ef icient design transfer into production. Partner with strategic Marketing to identify, assess and drive new product development opportunities that provide value to the BMT business and positioning. Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities): Minimum: Bachelor's degree in bio-science, engineering or related technology field - advanced degree preferred. 10 years of experience in product and technology development 4 years of experience directly managing engineers or highly technical teams, 3-5 of those years managing leaders within a Product Development function. 5+ years' experience in the medical device industry or highly regulated industry Demonstrated track record in hiring, developing, and retaining top technical talent Ability to lead people and achieve results through others as demonstrated by a clear record of accomplishments Ability to motivate, manage, and develop innovative project teams composed of scientific and technical personnel Experience working in a matrix environment Demonstrated ability to deliver on time, on budget in a fast-paced lean environment Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interface, negotiate and influence multi-disciplinary teams and with different levels of personnel Intrinsically curious, innovative thinker and problem solver. Ability to see how all the pieces fit together and contribute to the achievement of broader organizational objectives (big picture perspective); strong business acumen and judgment Preferred: Advanced degree in bio-science, engineering or related technical field Product development experience in fluid management (contrast), diagnostic (FFR) and diagnostic imaging (CT, MR, XR, IVUS) Led exploration and development of derivative technologies into new markets Technical expertise in cardiovascular catheter design Basic understanding of hospital networks and TCP/IP protocols Awareness and working knowledge of system level constraints in all disciplines including mechanical, electrical and software Knowledge of QSR, ISO/EN and Quality System Standards Business Development experience Understanding of medical literature and clinical data Other: Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team. Ability to travel domestically up to 30% of the time. Occasional international travel.
