This Accounts Receivable (A/R) Manager role will help manage the day to day Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) A/R and cash application operations. This position will help ensure RCM processes are operating accurately/effectively and aid in continually improving our A/R, cash applications and operating controls. The role will collaborate with other Optum Rx operational areas working strategically to aid in achieving business and financial goals. Accountable for managing RCM A/R activities and supporting GL team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Position will directly supervise the A/R team and indirectly Cash App team.

Responsible for ensuring client accounts stay up to date. Interact with client management teams to ensure past due balance are collected, Responsible for managing and improving write off process. Work to improve key metrics like DSO. Provides input to policies, systems, methods, and procedures for the effective management and control of the A/R function. Educates client management regarding the availability of receiving invoices and remitting payments through online applications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage day to day RCM A/R and cash application process striving for operational excellence.

  • Aid in continually improving our cash flow/DSO through effective accounts receivable and collections

  • Ensure overall RCM A/R and Cash App processes are operating effectively and continually improving our financial and operating controls

  • Accountable for managing RCM financial activities and supporting GL team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting

  • Collaborate with Optum Rx operational areas working strategically to aid in achieving business and financial goals

  • Improve staff productivity and help drive performance for the RCM business while leading a diverse and capable team of accountants

  • Assist with creation and maintaining key metrics dashboards that will drive action and positive outcomes.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain processes and procedures for accurate and timely analysis of financial data, ensuring best practices

  • Develop and maintain internal control structure and procedures for financial reporting

  • Resolve high level financial reporting issues

  • Manage the audit process and work with outside auditors regarding accounting and reporting issues

  • Review the work of others, serve as a mentor/leader, and sought out as an expert on complex or critical issues

  • Develop innovative approaches for continued improvement in efficiency and effectiveness

  • Performs work in a self-directed manner and works with less structured, more complex issues

  • Support various special projects as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • 5+ years of Accounting experience

  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.)

  • Must reside in the state of Minnesota

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ Year of supervisory experience

  • RCM experience

  • CPA or prior public accounting experience

  • Healthcare accounting experience

  • Experience in large matrix organizations

  • Experience with Oracle, Noetix, ServiceNow, Power BI

  • Experience successfully managing multiple requests, assessing priorities, and achieving solutions under deadlines

  • Ability to think strategically and execute methodically

  • Advanced analytical and information gathering skills; ability to evaluate and prioritize extensive detailed data while seeing big picture

  • Solid written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Motivated self-starter with exceptional time management and organization skills
