Position : Member Payment Specialist

Location : East Syracuse, New York

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for entry and maintenance of pricing and deductions for multiple payroll divisions

  • Adhere to strict federal deadlines

  • Process highly sensitive financial information for over 2,300 Farmer Owners

  • Responsible for processing of organic certificates, monthly condition types and assignment changes for all company codes

  • Process 10-day, mid-month advance and final payrolls for multiple milk handlers including organics and independents

  • Process specialty payrolls including deferments, adjustments, special advances, voluntary disposals, Caring Dairy, Maine tier and any other government issued programs

  • Process special advance interest

  • Support/answer Farmer Owners inquiries via phone and email

  • Implement changes to premiums as instructed by management & membership

  • Collaborate with membership and farm services to compile and write up information for special advance payments

  • Collaborate with other departments and business units on projects and member services

  • Assist field staff with payroll/producer information

  • Review 1099’s and annual statements for producers’ tax purposes

  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Associates degree or 3 to 5 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to manage workload, completing tasks with multiple deadlines

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong computer application skills, including proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Excel and Power BI reports

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, for internal and external audiences

  • Able to develop and maintain positive relationships with regulators, customers, and farmer-owners

  • Able to work with accuracy and attention to detail

  • Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork between departments

  • Able to handle challenging or conflict situations with tact and professionalism

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
