Stony Brook Medicine (Stony Brook University Hospital) Marketing Manager - Children's Hospital and Women's Health Services in East Setauket, New York

Position Summary

Stony Brook Medicine includes the medical enterprise (four hospitals and 200+ community-based outpatient offices), six health sciences schools/programs and research. This position fills an important role in the Marketing and Communications Department, serving as the Marketing Manager for Stony Brook Children's Hospital and Women's Health Services (i.e. OB/GYN) locally and regionally. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Communications, this position is responsible for the development and execution of annual marketing plans for the Children's Hospital and Women's Health Services, and will interact closely with leadership, physicians and support staff in both areas. The ideal candidate should have some experience with healthcare marketing (i.e. strong editorial skills including content creation for print collateral, web articles, advertising campaigns, etc.), particularly with pediatric practices, Children's Hospitals and/or Women's Health Services.

Duties of a Marketing Manager - Children's Hospital and Women's Health Services may include the following but are not limited to:

  • Leads the development of strategic marketing plans that drive growth in patient volume through strategies targeting consumers and physicians, as well as engagement and retention.
  • Identify key differentiators in these service areas based on quality, service and/or outcomes, and build better hospital/market brands through consistent messaging, differentiated value propositions and brand positioning within the market.
  • Seeks information and operates at a level of constant inquiry about business priorities and key initiatives that can further differentiate the hospital within the market. Acts as a reporter working to identify and translate the marketing activation stories of success.
  • Communicates regularly to service line leadership and stakeholder groups regarding marketing plans and marketing program results.
  • Maintains a collaborative working relationship with hospital department members and physician teams.
  • Leads in the planning, implementation and management of the service line marketing budget.
  • Plans and implements all day-to-day marketing responsibilities such as activation of marketing campaigns; coordination of events and highlighting positive stories across owned and paid media.
  • Measures results of in market activities where possible. Ability to analyze and communicate complex information to distill impact of marketing programs and conversions.
  • Supports the development of marketing content/materials to accomplish goals. Determines effective methods of communication (online and traditional mediums) and creates on-target messaging (writing content appropriate for consumers/patients, and more technical content for physicians). Ensures accuracy and timeliness of messaging.
  • Works with media relations team, social media team, internal communications team and others as appropriate, to amplify marketing through integrated marketing strategies.
  • Keeps service line website content current, prioritizing content placement based on priorities and analytics. Create positive user experiences and effective web pages. Align with SEO and other marketing efforts that drive to pages and conversions.
  • Works with web team when significant/structural changes are needed to these areas's websites: improving functionality; highlighting services and providers; and promoting upcoming events and lectures in appropriate areas of the website.
  • Assists with coordination of all people involved in the development of content, including designers, production staff and customers, as well as external vendors, which may include writers, designers, videographers and photographers.
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of hospital-based operations, service lines and physician relations.
  • Shares best practices and experiences with the MarCom team.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree with concentration in marketing, journalism or communications.
  • Five years of marketing experience in either an agency or corporate setting.
  • Passion for the mission and the work at Stony Brook Children's Hospital and in women's health.
  • Must have strong writing, editing and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Must have a strong understanding of branding and brand management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Must have working knowledge of InDesign.

Preferred:

  • Healthcare marketing experience.
  • Ability to post content to website.
  • Working knowledge of email distribution platforms such as Open Moves, Constant Contact.
  • Experience with marketing automation.
  • Experience with web platforms such as Google Analytics, Salesforce, Eventbrite, Survey Monkey, Hootsuite, Google AdWords, etc.

Three writing samples required at the time of departmental interview, ideally, all elements of one marketing campaign, along with background and explanation of campaign. A writing test will be required at second stage of the interview.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as - $73440 -$87210.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

In addition, all UUP positions have an additional $3,087
