Atlantic Plywood is looking for a full-time Wood Coating Specialist to join our team!

The Wood Coating Specialist will be an integral part of our wood coatings division by determining lacquering techniques and managing the development process and color matching for new product.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage color matching process to ensure colors match specifications and maintain timing schedules

  • Assess and determine lacquering techniques to achieve desired effect for new items

  • Ensure product meets strict production testing as well as meeting customer testing restrictions/expectations.

  • Assist with research and development projects for new product

  • Develop good understanding of lacquers and vendors

  • Meet with clients to discuss development issues

  • Work with vendors to develop innovative lacquering effects

  • Work with multiple departments to bring product to market

  • Coordinate supplies such as color and spray paint

  • Develop tooling specifications, order tooling, and verify tooling meets specifications

  • Interface/implement new development in first time production process

  • Maintain detailed and accurate records

  • Evaluate and understand color matching and adjustment methods

  • Participate in special projects as needed

Job Requirements:

  • Authorization to work in the US

  • High school diploma / GED

  • Ability to lift 50-100 lbs.

  • Basic computer skills

  • Good understanding of safety procedures and use of personal protection equipment (PPE)

  • Good organizational and time management skills

  • Must be able to work unsupervised as well as in a team

  • Must have a pre-employment physical, drug test, and background check upon hire

  • Travel is required; must have reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years previous manufacturing experience (glass, wood, container, plastic, ceramic experience a plus)

  • Experience in sales and/or customer service

  • Computer proficiency in the following programs: Word, Excel

  • Color matching experience and spray applications experience required

  • Effective communication skills and ability to multi-task

  • Good organizational skills

  • Strong quality orientation and high attention to detail

  • Problem analysis and problem resolution skills
