Position Title: Designer II

Location: East Palo Alto, California

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Create, establish, and monitor the visual tone and expression throughout the AWS Documentation digital properties: public site, product console, mobile, and more. 2. Create and evolve various visual systems that scale across hundreds of use cases and employees. For example, diagram systems, iconography, screencapture styling, onsite banners, branding imagery, and more. 3. Be the liaison and representative for Visual Design on Documentation for cross-org visual committees (e.g., those that bring designers across Marketing, Polaris, Brand, Events, and more). 4. Communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization. 5. Contribute and create visual assets to grow the core libraries (icons, illustrations, diagrams, and more). 6. Be part of a multidisciplinary team of designers, researchers, and design technologists who seek to transform the AWS cloud into an everyday tool for communication and collaboration through a human-centered design process. 7. Collaborate with UX designers, other visual designers, content managers, editors, technical writers, and engineers to shape and maintain a high quality bar for design. 8. Create user-centered designs by considering market analysis, data, customer feedback, user research and technical constraints/opportunities. 9. Quickly and thoroughly create work flows, wireframes, design mockups and prototypes to effectively conceptualize new product initiatives and features. 10. Simplify and distill complex processes into intuitive and elegant UIs. 11. Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications, working closely with developers to see your design through to deployment. 12. Own innovative iterative design, working closely with product and tech partners from inception through implementation. 13. Mentor and lead other designers. 14. Telecommuting benefits available.

40 hours / week, 8:00am-5:00pm, Salary Range $132,500/year to $185,000/year

Basic Qualifications

Position Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Advertising, or a related discipline and 3 years of experience in art direction, visual design, UX design, or related experience. Experience must include:

  1. 3 years of experience with digital design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Sketch, Figma, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.

  2. 3 years of experience defining and/or working from brand and visual style guides

  3. 3 years of experience in Visual, UX and front-end web design processes and best practices

  4. Experience in best practices for typography, layout, color theory, data visualization, brand identity, and visual communication.
