Position Summary

The position will support FRIB Accelerator Operations in delivering ion beams. Development on delivering ion beams from 14 GHz ECR ion source for injection into superconducting linac of FRIB accelerator. Lead the commissioning effort of the new superconducting ECR ion source.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Nuclear Technology, Physics, or closely

Minimum Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Nuclear Technology, Physics or a closely related field

  • 1 year experience as an Engineer or any related position in fundamental physics research

  • 1 year experience with ECR ion sources, vacuum systems, mechanical design, RF systems, thermal analysis, and ion beam optics
