Michigan State University(MSU) Research Associate-Fixed Term in East Lansing, Michigan

Position Summary

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral (fixed term) Research associate in the CREATE for STEM Institute at Michigan State University. Research associate will collaborate with faculty in the College of Natural Science and CREATE for STEM Institute to analyze and develop feedback to students' responses to assessments, including explanations and models. The research associate will work to implement AI in support of analyzing student responses -- including tasks such as modifying rubrics, employing AI supported tools, collecting, organizing, and analyzing data, and writing scholarly materials.

Responsibilities include working in coordination with the director of CREATE for STEM Institute and other faculty to 1) analyze assessment tasks using AI, 2) develop developmental feedback based on student responses, 3) design, develop, and conduct interviews with high school teachers and students on feedback they received and the use of the AI system, 4)  collect, organize and analyze data, 5) provide management and leadership for the project, 6) work with a team to plan and write reports, conference papers and journal articles that disseminate the research, and 7) make presentations at regional and national conferences.

The candidates will collaborate with faculty, post-docs, and graduate students in Michigan State's CREATE for STEM Institute ().

Required Degree

Doctorate -science education or a science disciplin

Minimum Requirements

Candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. in science education or a science discipline, preferably in chemistry or closely related field with relevant experience.

Desired Qualifications

Candidates with experience in assessment design and analysis, knowledge and experience with using AI to improve learning, educational research experience, knowledge of mixed-methods research, and experience in secondary science teaching are highly preferred.
