Michigan State University(MSU) On-Call Service/Maintenance in East Lansing, Michigan

Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is an on-call position. Provides food service, custodial, grounds maintenance, general labor or other main support on an on-call basis.

Unit Position Summary

The person filling this position will help assess customer bicycle problems, write up work orders, perform bicycle maintenance and repair, assist customers with sales and rentals, operate a cash register, general cleaning and organizing of the work area and shop as needed.

The working days/hours for this job will be 19 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 9am-5pm. Pay is $13-$16 per hr depending on experience.

MSU is a gold-level Bike Friendly University, an award from the League of American Bicyclists. Our mission is to encourage bicycling and provide the accessibility, support, and education necessary to continue making bicycling a viable, safe, inviting option for the MSU community.

Desired Qualifications

Have working knowledge of tools and repair of bikes, frequent lifting 26 to 50 pounds, excellent customer service skills, good communication skills, experience and knowledge of Infrastructure, Planning and Facilities and/or facilities structure, processes, and procedures; ability to demonstrate T-shaped competencies. A passion for bicycling and encouraging it.

A creative and innovative lifelong learner with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, able to problem solve with a collaborative team environment, ability to understand different perspectives while utilizing expert knowledge of the technical operations of the job.

Ability to pass a university criminal background check.

Must possess a valid Michigan operator's license.
