Position Summary

Set-up, tear down and clean up for livestock events at the MSU Pavilion; move, load, and unload supplies, materials, tools, and equipment; operate tractors and trucks with attachments such as drags; lubricate and assist in routine maintenance of farm machinery and equipment; assist with cleaning barns, sheds, pens, stalls and related agricultural facilities including erecting fences, gates and pens; s hovel snow, dirt and salt walkways; assist with coordination of events and customer service; utilize and set up technical equipment; assist tradesmen by handling, holding, positioning, and collecting tools, supplies, and equipment; maintain Pavilion equipment, landscaping, snow removal/salting and other general cleaning to keep the facility presentable for public events. This position is located in the MSU Pavilion.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

  • One year satisfactory agricultural work experience.

  • Possession of a valid Michigan vehicle operator license(s) is necessary.

  • Frequent lifting of over 75 pounds is required.

  • May require possession of appropriate Pesticide Application Registration/Certification

  • May require possession or attainment of an MSU Fork Lift operator's permit prior to completion of applicable probation or trial period.

  • Knowledge of basic personal computer terminology and operations, and the ability to use e-mail and the Internet.

Desired Qualifications

Five years or more experience in a Livestock Exhibition facility or fairgrounds; welding ability; ability to make minor repairs to livestock gates and stalls; knowledge of basic personal computer terminology and operations, and the ability to use email and the Internet.

1 weekend per month required. 7:00am - 3:00pm on weekends, mostly 8:00am - 5:00pm during the week with a couple 12:00pm - 8:00pm shifts depending on the event.
