E-Resources Library Assistant IV

Position Summary

Performs duties related to library work that require significant technical and academic training, and provides information and assistance to Library staff that requires a high degree of discrimination and independent judgment, the ability to use complex systems and tools, and the ability to synthesize and deduce from facts and information. Assists in maintenance of electronic resources, including acquisition, testing, and troubleshooting. Communicates with Library and IT Services staff and electronic resource vendors. Maintains currency of data associated with electronic resources on Library website and in electronic resources management software. Assists in maintenance of paper files and processing and scanning of documents related to electronic resource licenses. Maintains online license file database and interface for library staff. Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an office setting; experience with database, spreadsheet, word processing, library automation system support and web page design; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. May require recent experience in an academic library and/or the ability to read and translate one or more foreign languages.

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to collaborate well with others and help to foster a welcoming environment.

  • Detail oriented with high level of accuracy; ability to identify and resolve problems exercising excellent judgment; ability to handle varied, multiple and competing project priorities.

  • Experience working in an academic library.

  • Experience with FOLIO system and familiarity with MSU Library electronic resources.

  • Must have excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
