Description: An entry level Software Engineer job in East Hartford, CT 06108 is currently available at Belcan. This job is a full-time direct position with benefits. To be considered for this role, you will need a Bachelor's Degree in Software, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering or similar. In this role you will work on a variety of sophisticated aircraft engine and control systems.

Job Duties:

  • Installation and configuration of Linux OS on a variety of devices

  • Assembly of or replacement of parts for PCs, laptops, servers.

  • Development of scripts in various languages (Ansible, bash, etc.)

  • Setup hardware with RAID, Logical Volume Manager (LVM), and encryption

  • Backup of software and files in Git/Gitlab

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelors in Electrical, Software, Aeronautical Engineering or related field

  • Zero to two years of experience as an engineer

  • An excellent understanding of Software Principles including object oriented programming

  • Enthusiastic about software development

  • Self-Starter

  • Able to work both on an individual project and as a team player

  • Programming skills with Scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl, Tcl/Tk)

  • Programming skills with C++

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Good Troubleshooting skills

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Due to the nature of the work U.S. Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Lab Environment

  • Cybersecurity experience

  • DOORS experience

  • Knowledge of Tool Qualification per DO-178B/C

  • Aircraft communication bus protocols. We use ARINC-664, ARINC-629, ARINC-429, CAN, TTP - but even knowledge of Ethernet protocols would be a good foundation for learning aircraft communications protocols.

  • Basic electrical engineering skills (ability to read a schematic, etc.)

  • ACE or Six Sigma process improvement experience

We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary range of $68,640 to $74,880. Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
