Safety-Kleen Shunt Driver I in East Chicago, Indiana

We are seeking a Shunt/Yard Dog Driver for our East Chicago, IN location who is safety conscious. As a key part of the team to keep things moving, you must be able to multi-task and communicate well. You will be responsible for moving trailers to load and unload within our Safety-Kleen facilities.

  • Operate shunt truck to move trailers within the facility for loading, unloading, and or cleaning

  • Scale full and empty trailers to determine gallons loaded or unloaded

  • Review shipping and receiving paperwork for product to be loaded

  • Performs trailer inspections to comply with requirements of the Federal Railroad D.O.T. prior to loading, unloading and/or offering for transport

  • Works closely with transportation, the Lab, and bulk carriers to ensure products are shipped on time and in specification. Assist in assignment of trailers for cleaning, and loading

What does it take to be a part of our Safety-Kleen team?

  • HS Diploma or equivalent

  • 1+ years’ previous Shunt Driving/Yard Truck experience

  • Plant/industrial experience preferred

  • Must be able to multi-task

  • Strong communication skills to work well drivers, members of supervision, and operators from various departments

  • Work well under pressure
