ManpowerGroup Mechanical Reliability Technician in East Chicago, Indiana

Mechanical Reliability Technician

A prestigious company in the industrial gases and engineering sector is actively seeking an experienced Rotating Equipment / Mechanical Reliability Specialist. This position is essential for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of production facilities, focusing on achieving the lowest life cycle cost of equipment. The role is available at locations in River Rouge, MI (Detroit area) or East Chicago, IN (Greater Chicago Area), as well as additional locations listed below.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, and perform maintenance, overhauls, and inspections for a variety of industrial mechanical and rotating equipment, including Centrifugal and Screw Compressors, Pumps, Motors, Gearboxes, and Cooling Towers.

  • Execute major preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs across multiple facilities.

  • Provide on-site and remote technical support and guidance for regional sites.

  • Assist in turnaround planning and mechanical work cost estimation.

  • Identify and resolve persistent mechanical issues, driving urgent solutions to ensure continuous operation.

  • Work independently, making informed technical decisions to optimize costs and benefits.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial manufacturing environment maintenance, specifically with mechanical and rotating systems.

  • Machinist background strongly recommended.

  • Hands-on skills in installing, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial mechanical and rotating equipment.

  • Proficient in using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators, and performing precision alignment with lasers or dial indicators.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (e.g., Infor EAM) is a plus.

  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 20% of the time and availability for off-hours work as needed.

Preferred:

  • Completion of a 4-year machinist/ millwright apprenticeship program or an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.

  • Experience with dynamic balancing, vibration data analysis, and preventive/predictive maintenance practices.

Work Environment:

  • Combination of office and fieldwork; must be capable of working in various weather conditions and accessing elevated equipment.
