Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. Maintenance Planner in East Chicago, Indiana

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a Maintenance Planner at our Indiana Harbor operation in East Chicago, Indiana. Ideal candidates enjoy working in innovative, challenging environments and are willing to constantly raise the bar and create what is next. The Maintenance Planner is responsible for managing the maintenance planning and scheduling activities within the department to improve equipment reliability. We have multiple openings throughout the facility.Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of long-range maintenance schedules and budgets.

  • Prepare the short-range and long-range plans for electrical repairs.

  • Directs work of hourly Maintenance staff (mechanical and electrical).

  • Oversees the scheduling and follow up of preventive/predictive maintenance routes and tracks performance metrics.

  • Oversees the scheduling of repair turns and outages, which includes making sure tasks are properly planned, manpower is allocated, parts are available, and manages backlog of work to be completed.

  • Works with Central Spares group to make sure critical spares are available.

  • Works with maintenance, production, and operations technology personnel in creating, scheduling, and completing projects.

  • Assist supervisors in monitoring department safety performance and prepare action plans / take action on areas that require change. Work proactively with the Safety Team in identifying and mitigating safety risks. Participate in safety audits, inspections and observations to demonstrate visible safety leadership.

  • Ensures that all training is up-to-date for maintenance personnel.

  • Involvement in the creation, implementation, and tracking of department Improvement Action Plans.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited educational or equivalent experience.

  • Three plus years of supervisory experience preferred with a manufacturing/maintenance background (heavy industrial experience and/or engineering discipline).

  • Predictive and Preventive Maintenance program or programs experience.

  • Fluency in Microsoft Office, with excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science Degree in engineering discipline.

  • Background in steelmaking furnace and secondary modeling.

  • 5 or more years of experience in heavy industry.
