First Realty Management Maintenance Mechanic in East Boston, Massachusetts

First Realty Management Corp, a leading area property management firm is seeking an experienced Full-time position available at Brandywyne Village for an individual skilled in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, general maintenance work, and some knowledge on HVAC, boilers.

  • This individual must work well independently and have the ability to adapt to changing priorities.

  • Good communication skills are necessary.

  • Individual should be service-minded and take pride in work.

  • Regularly scheduled hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

  • On-call responsibilities will be shared with other staff members.

  • This position may be asked to perform work assignments at other sites, subject to any applicable contract provisions.

Job Functions:

  • Prepares vacant units by repairing, refurbishing and cleaning (as needed) in accordance with site checklists and turnover schedules and First Realty Management standards.

  • Assumes on call responsibilities for lost keys and emergencies such as plumbing problems, electrical, etc., shared with others where applicable.

  • Responds to daily emergency and routine service work orders in professional and timely manner.

  • Maintains appearance of the site by collecting and discarding refuse from common areas and throughout site on a daily basis.

  • Performs snow removal by shoveling, salt/sanding and operating and maintaining appropriate equipment.

  • Performs preventative maintenance schedule per site requirements.

  • Participates in annual apartment inspections as assigned.

Additional Job Functions:

  • Responds to changes in organization and property by assuming additional responsibilities as needed, such as going to other sites, in accordance with the union contract Section 9.6 and posting provisions.

  • Works overtime as required for snow removal.

  • Maintains a clean and well-groomed appearance, wears company issued uniforms.

  • Is courteous to residents at all times.

Requirements

Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, carpentry and general repair and maintenance duties

  • Ability to get to the site in a timely manner to respond for emergencies

  • Ability to read product instructions and safety materials

  • Ability to fill out and complete work orders accurately

  • Ability to communicate effectively with site staff and residents

  • Ability to follow directions

  • Ability to operate snow equipment, such as trucks, skid loaders, snow blowers safely and effectively

  • Ability to safely operate power tools, such as saws and drills

  • Must pass First Realty Management’s pre-employment physical prior to starting of work

Level of Education/Training/License:

Valid drivers license, per site requirements

Experience:

Previous general maintenance or similar experience preferred.
