The Test Engineer Senior performs estimating of, planning and preparations for, execution of, and maintenance of automated and/or manual tests at a large or multi-project application level, reporting of test results, and defect management activities. The Test Engineer Senior may lead matrixed test teams of varying sizes. A Day in the Life: Creates Test Planning documentation for applications under test in a large or multi-project, including but not limited to Test Plans and Test Schedules. Substantially contributes to the content of the Test Planning documentation. Creates test cases for applications under test in large projects, based on system requirements and technical design documentation, using automation to the fullest extent. Specifies the definition of test data needs for the test cases to be performed, recommending cost, schedule, or space efficiency techniques. Performs the analysis of test environment setup for the test cases to be performed. Executes and maintains manual and/or automated test cases and scripts, as assigned. Analyzes test results and documents defects and issues using the Incident Management Process. Establishes and generates metrics related to system quality. Actively engages business stakeholders in the planning and collaboration of user acceptance test cases, as needed. Implements initiatives to enhance test performance capabilities, such as through automation. Adheres to the BCBSMN methodology and test deliverables. Nice to Have: Demonstrated ability to influence and motivate individuals and teams. Effectively work in a team environment and adjust to dynamic schedules. Software development experience required. Completed professional testing and/or test management certification. Required Skills and Experiences: Bachelor's degree in science, math, business computers, MIS or related field and 5 years of test related design in information services including 3 years in test related automation design. In lieu of degree, 9 years of test design experience in information services including 3 years in test related automation design. Demonstrated human relation skills to effectively interact with all management levels, peers, internal and external customers and vendors. Advanced experience with of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including test planning processes. Advanced technical knowledge of mainframe, client/server, or web-based environments. Advanced technical knowledge of testing tools. Advanced knowledge of database query and manipulation tools and techniques. Strong knowledge of multiple scripting and programming languages.
