MISO Energy Systems Engineering Advisor in Eagan, Minnesota

Location: Carmel, Indiana or Eagan, Minnesota

MISO is hiring a Systems Engineering Advisor to help introduce new capabilities as we influence the future of development! Work with domain professionals and project teams to apply Systems Engineering logic and methodology. Be a part of crafting technology solutions that ensure the future systematic, reliable operations of the bulk electric power grid. This position will apply modern systems engineering practices to develop and evolve our energy management platforms. We’re looking for someone who is curious, good at asking questions, and understands engineering concepts!

As MISO’s Systems Engineering Advisor , you will:

  • Demonstrate leadership, interpersonal, and effective communication skills enabling the ability to effectively collaborate, negotiate, and thrive in a team environment

  • Elicit, analyze, and handle/allocate system requirements by collaborating and working with the business throughout the product lifecycle

  • Lead system design, build/maintain functional models, and participate in design evaluation decisions and tradeoffs to transition the organization to an enterprise-wide portfolio management model

  • Partner with other professionals to build system engineering artifacts to support program/project management, vendor development, and business analysis

  • Collaborate across a broad and diverse set of partners (Enterprise Architecture, R&D, Product Teams, Software Development, Test, and Business teams) to help establish and improve a standard technical development model

To be successful in this role, we’re looking for the following:

  • At least 8+ years of relevant systems engineering work experience applying systems engineering practices

  • Extensive experience applying systems engineering practices and knowledge in modeling system requirements and designs using a variety of techniques (e.g. SysML) and associated tools (IBM Rational ReqPro/DOORs, Cameo, SparxEA, etc.)

  • Systems “thinker” and can approach problems logically, iteratively, incrementally at multiple layers of abstraction

  • An individual who is strong at documenting and maintaining functional specifications, concepts of operations, and operational definitions in support of engineering practices

  • Certified as a Systems Engineer by the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) preferred

Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
