Responsibilities of the Security Operations Manager position include leadership, employee development and management, financial planning and management. Responsible for defining and directing the overall security monitoring, cyber threat, and incident response capabilities within the security operations team and directing activities to achieve the mission of BCBSM Information Security. A Day in the Life: Manages the department including interviewing and hiring employees following required EEO and Affirmative Action guidelines. Responsible for performance evaluations, coaching, skill and career development, policy administration, performance management and behavior of employees. Leads the response to events reported as possible information security incidents, determines validity and priority of incidents, and owns the formal incident management process. Proactively manages Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesotas network and computer resources for the risk of information security breaches, and coordinates any services providing alerting and/or monitoring. Oversees defensive controls intended to prevent and proactively manage cyber security intrusions. Leads the monitoring of external information regarding emerging security threats and mitigations, including vulnerabilities, malware, and patches. Oversees the execution of periodic security scans of host systems, networks, and other resources, to support security vulnerability management processes. Leads penetration testing of internal BCBS infrastructure and vendor applications, and coordinates third-party testing efforts. Reviews digital assets to support both intrusion prevention and other needs of the company; may include coordination of third-party forensic work. Develops and documents internal standards regarding technical security controls, platform hardening, product requirements, and technical security exceptions. Directs and mentors professional staff members in the security operations team. Nice to Have: Bachelor's degree / Masters degree in Information Assurance/Security is desirable. Relevant cybersecurity certification(s): CISSP, GCIH, GCFA, CEH, CHFI. Cloud Service Provider Certification (e.g., AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals, etc.) - required within 1 year of employment. Previous experience in an agile/product-led operating model. Previous experience in health management/insurance field. Previous experience transforming and automating security operations, threat hunting, and incident response workflows via SOAR, CI/CD, and related tools. Required Skills and Experiences: 6+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered. 3+ years of experience leading and developing personnel. Deep technical understanding and exposure to SIEM, vulnerability scanning and management, DLP, incident response planning and execution, EDR, IDS/IPS, content filtering, and penetration testing. Strong leadership skills with the related ability to generate ideas, support and commitment from those affected by the position and work cooperatively with them to accomplish company, division and project objectives.
