Insight Global Field Network Installation Technician in Durham, North Carolina

Job Description

The Field Network Installation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network systems at customer locations. This role involves traveling to client sites, ensuring the proper installation of network equipment, and providing exceptional customer service.

Job Responsibilities:

 Installation & Setup:

o Install and configure network hardware, including routers, switches, modems, and wireless access points.

o Retrieve hardware from warehouse and deliver hardware to installation locations. Run and terminate cables (e.g., Ethernet, fiber optic) according to industry standards.

o Ensure all installations are performed to company standards and comply with safety regulations.

 Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

o Perform routine maintenance on network equipment.

o Diagnose and resolve network issues, both on-site and remotely.

o Test network connections to ensure proper functioning and optimal performance.

 Documentation & Reporting:

o Maintain detailed records of installations, service calls, and equipment inventory.

o Report on installation progress and any issues encountered to the Network Manager.

o Follow company protocols for handling and disposing of equipment.

 Compliance & Safety:

o Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

o Stay updated on the latest industry standards and best practices for network installations.

Skills and Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree in a related field is preferred)

 Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in network installation or a related technical field.

 Experience with various network equipment brands and configurations.

 Proficient in the installation and configuration of network hardware.

 Understanding of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP). Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA null
