Position Summary: The Dental Assistant is a member of the multi-disciplinary oral health care team with responsibility for patient exam and procedure preparation and assisting within the scope of practice of a dental assistant.

Our ideal candidate for our Dental Assistant position will have their high school degree or equivalent. CDA is preferred.

Salary: Starting pay is $17.50 - $19.55 per hour and considers preferred experience and preferred certification.

Physical demands: Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand, or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have ability to sit for longer periods at a computer. Employee must be able to travel between AHS locations. Possible potential exposure to communicable disease. Required Skills:

Considerable knowledge and skill obtained through experience and/or training to be able to provide appropriate care to all clinic patients. Advanced knowledge of dental record keeping practices including documentation in an electronic health/dental record. Ability to exercise considerable judgment, to recognize problems outside of this role and refer appropriately. Knowledge of dental and medical terminology Physical capability to interact with others and perform mobility requirements of the position Knowledge and ability to operate standard office equipment including scanner, computer. Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and ability to access the internet Ability to be helpful and sensitive to the needs of all employees, while concurrently respecting corporate policies, procedures, and priorities. Interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers. Ability to communicate job-related information to individuals and small groups. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; plan own work schedule effectively and multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced setting. Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize workload in a sometimes-hectic environment with frequent interruptions. Ability to concentrate in sometimes hectic and stressful settings. Ability to read and understand written materials.
