The Bill of Materials Specialist\'s primary function is to create, modify, and manage accurate and consistent Bills of Materials (BOM) and Product Configurations within our Microsoft Navision ERP system. The bills of materials are complex documentation of the specific parts and operations required to manufacture Victor Stanley products. This is a highly important and detail-oriented role that requires the ability to think critically and problem solve through cross-functional collaboration to maintain accurate pricing, inventory accuracy, purchasing, and product fulfillment.

\ Tasks:

  • Using product design information, create product models, configurations and BOM within the Microsoft Navision ERP system
  • Working with the Engineering, Supply Chain, Inventory and Purchasing Teams, design and maintain product configurator rules, BOM and routing rules
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy in BOM and Configurator
  • Act as liaison between Engineering, Supply Chain, Purchasing and Production Teams
  • Troubleshoot BOM, Configurator and Sales Order entry issues. Determine most effective approach to resolving issues
  • Interface with Customer Service and Sales regarding configurator capabilities
  • Coordinate with the Engineering Team on documenting the parts, resources and routing required as specified by the Engineering Team
  • Track the preliminary BOM through the engineering and prototyping phase to maintain accuracy
  • Working closely with the Engineering, Supply Chain, Inventory and Purchasing Teams, integrate the Add/Delete parts list
  • Communicating BOM information to key stakeholders as it is captured, updated and before new product launches
  • Maintain consistency and accuracy in describing parts and part numbers for production and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with drawing format and part naming conventions
  • Conduct BOM audits to ensure inventory accuracy and correct use of parts in production
  • Perform special cost analyses and prepare materials usage reports
  • Analyze usage discrepancies as it relates to BOM accuracy, ensuring each tier of the BOM matches the appropriate routing and timing of materials in production
  • Understand cost impact of changing BOMs and parts as well as the impact on production use, inventory values, variances, and Cost of Goods Sold
  • Provide additional support and conduct special projects as determined by the Engineering, Supply Chain, Inventory and Purchasing Teams
  • Perform other duties as assigned
