ITW Production Supervisor- Receiving, Maintenance, and Fabrication in Dundalk, Maryland

Summary:

Vulcan, recognized by chefs and operators around the world as the best-in-class supplier for premier, energy-efficient foodservice equipment, is seeking an organized and energetic Production Supervisor supporting the Receiving, Maintenance, and Fabrication departments, to join our growing team.

Function:

Leveraging ITW 80/20 business strategies and toolbox procedures, this position reports to the Plant Manager. This role supervises or assists in supervising employees, has knowledge of product assembly process, preventative maintenance procedures, and can effectively lead the shipping and receiving department.

  • Follow and execute ITW Enterprise Strategy, ITW Toolkit, Core Values, and Code of Conduct as a leader of the business.

  • Supervise daily production activities of a specific group of hourly workers, recommending discipline and recognition as necessary.

  • Review the work performance, absenteeism, and safe work habits, of all supervised personnel and take corrective actions as indicated.

  • Interpret, clarify and enforce rules, regulations and policies.

  • When applicable, handle employee complaints and assist in general human resources activities for work group.

  • Maintain morale, insure discipline is equitably applied and promote positive personnel relations.

  • Maintain company safety and housekeeping programs for a safe work environment consistent with corporate direction and policy.

  • Assure proper handling of hazardous wastes, and be sure to comply with all local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Review present equipment, production procedures, and make recommendations that may improve the operation cost reduction.

  • Monitor the operations and processes to ensure the employee is using proper methods and performing at an acceptable level.

  • Instruct new employees how to operate and perform tasks.

  • Advise and assist employees on methods to help the employee attain established work standards.

  • Confer with other departments on matters that affect the operation of the area.

  • Order supplies and be sure employees have proper tooling, equipment, materials and paperwork to perform the job.

  • Perform preventive maintenance as required and prepare work orders and issue work orders for repairs as needed.

  • Compile and maintain department records as required.

  • Interview / Hire new temporary workers and perform new hire orientation.

  • Monitor and perform shipping / receiving activities including inbound freight, outbound shipments, data plate generation, accessories shipments, and record keeping.

  • Monitor and perform maintenance activities including project prioritization, allocation of resources, deployment of contractors, and communication to teams.

  • Has responsibility for the performance appraisal process and skill placement to support facility needs

  • Holder of a High School Diploma with a minimum of five (5) years of expertise in diverse manufacturing operations, including but not limited to industries such as food & beverage, textiles, automotive, electronics, etc.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in manufacturing supervision, encompassing plant floor operations and personnel management, with preference for candidates with 3+ years of experience in these areas. Union experience preferred but not mandatory.

  • DESIRED : Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline with a minimum of four (4) years' experience in a related industry (e.g., metal fabrication, foundry, tool & die, industrial trades, etc.).

  • Ability to respond to changes quickly, calmly, and efficiently.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is:

  • Must be able to stand or walk for duration of 10 hours.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, reach and twist to complete all job tasks.

  • Must be able to wear all required PPE (i.e., safety glasses, gloves, steel/composite toe safety shoes)

Working Conditions

  • Combination - industrial plant floor, union environment, and office.

Hours of Work

  • Monday – Friday 5:30 am – 3:00 pm.

  • Week/Weekend overtime as necessary
