This is a PRN position. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Provides charge nurse duties in direct patient care in the Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation department. Charge nurse will be in charge of monitoring the direct duties of the nursing assistants and medication aides. Communicates with physicians, nurses, and other staff about patients’ clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies, and symptomatology. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in conditions or response to treatment. May perform duties as a charge nurse as required and scheduled. Charge Nurse Duties: * Provide thorough report on resident conditions and new orders to following shift * Recognize and asses changes in condition of residents and report as necessary * Communicate with physicians when needed and obtain orders when necessary * Maintain the highest quality of functioning in all residents * Assess residents monthly as required  * Provide quality care in all treatments provided while maintaining residents’ dignity and rights * Sign all duty books when providing treatments prescribed * Follow all medication administration rights and order medications as delegated * All patches, injections, HHN tx are administered by the licensed charge nurse * Charge nurse will supervise aides/med aides daily in their duties and resident care by rounding, delegation, and follow up * Assist outside departments with resident care including but not limited to physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, lab, radiology etc. * Charge nurse must be knowledgeable in the care plan of all residents and update as necessary * Maintain active relationships with both residents and family members * Maintain all education required by regulations and licensure * Participate in quality teams/projects as assigned * Charge nurse must be knowledgeable of all nursing home policies and procedures EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Graduate of an accredited school of Vocational Professional Nursing. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: None. Six months nursing experience in a long-term care setting preferred. LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Current Texas LVN license and Current CPR certification. Must maintain current licensure at all times. Miscellaneous:   Must remain knowledgeable in the rules and regulations set forth by the state of TX for long term care
