Essentia Health Health Information Manager in Duluth, Minnesota

Job Description:

The Health Information Manager is responsible for system-wide document management and data integrity of health records. This includes oversight of the following functions: scanning, indexing, abstraction of discrete data, chart corrections, master patient index management, radiology result editing, chart completion, EHR (Electronic Health Record) filing structure, and record storage and retention. The Health Information Manager serves as a subject matter expert and accountable leader for enterprise standardization and optimization related to document management and data integrity. This role is responsible for creating efficient and effective workflows leveraging technology to assure high quality health record documentation and processes that meet or exceed industry standards.

Education Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership, strategic direction, and influence across the organization to ensure best practices in Health Information management are implemented

  • Serves as a representative for Health Information Management in area of expertise in the organization

  • Assures development and implementation of key performance indicators, including productivity, quality, and service level standards in areas of responsibility

  • Identifies, evaluates, and implements, as appropriate, cost reduction opportunities

  • Leads and/or participates in work with peers and other departments to create an understanding of interdependent workflows and dependencies, and to identify and implement strategies to improve Health Information Management and organizational performance

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health information management or similar field

    Required Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in health information management field

  • Experience with applications or systems management /development or EHR implementations and build or EHR Project Management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership experience

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

  • Credentialed as an active Registered Health Information Administrator with the American Health Information Management Association
