Job Description:

The Director of Operations is responsible for managing a team of service professionals that are designed to support the fundraising initiatives for the system. The position will ensure all development operations are efficient, optimized, and compliant for the Foundation. This could include audit compliance, fund flow, donor stewardship, measuring donor impact, donor proposals, gift agreements and contract administration. Monitor and enhance systems. Improve Essentia’s fundraising operations by strategically managing the department budget when it comes to operations and software tools, ensuring to minimize expenses while maximizing return.

Education Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the effective and strategic functioning of the department including supervising and developing team members on the services side, including annual giving, events, philanthropic communications, data, research, tracking and reporting

  • Collaborate across the department and organization to ensure proposals, reports, and other development projects are successfully completed

  • Responsible for grant solicitation and management across all regions, managing a portfolio of Private Foundation prospects & donors, coordinating with our Major Gift teams as needed

  • Responsible for building the pipeline through annual to mid-level giving programs and coordinating with the Major Gift teams as needed

  • Partners with foundation CDO, Legal Counsel and Finance Offices regarding policy issues involving planned gifts

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

Required Qualifications:

  • 8 years in philanthropy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong strategic vision and the ability to execute vision into action

  • Exceptional capacity for managing and leading people, positioning each staff person to succeed

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

Certification/Licensure Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license as verified through appropriate licensing agency

  • Must meet the driving requirements and criteria acceptable to Essentia Health's insurer

  • Proof of current motor vehicle insurance, including minimum State limits and without business exclusion
