Heidelberg Materials is seeking a qualified Sr Area Operations Manager, responsible for managing and directing the operations of multiple aggregate locations (10) in Georgia. This position will be based out of our office in Duluth, Georgia and will report directly to the General Manager.

What you’ll get to do

  • Partner with the local Environmental and Safety Professionals to drive, maintain, and promote a safe working environment, meeting all company standards and external regulations

  • Analyze plant performance and evaluate modifications and capital improvements to increase efficiencies and reduce costs

  • Oversee maintenance of facilities and equipment across the area of responsibility

  • Implement and achieve organizational goals

  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to ensure that effective fleet and maintenance plans are in place and executed at each operation

  • Prepare in forecasting and implementing annual operating and capital budgets as well as capital spending requests

  • Develop employees from all levels of your organization to build the team’s capability and readiness to fill key roles, both hourly and salaried

  • Evaluate performance of subordinates and provide coaching to continue development

  • Effectively lead team and supporting functions to accomplish organizational objectives regarding safety, environment, profit, productivity, efficiencies, production costs and quality

  • Develop close working relationships with peers (Safety, HR, Sales, Quality and Continuous Improvement Managers) to create maximum value for the business

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the operations

  • Build relationships within the local communities surrounding the operations

  • Actively participate in local and national professional associations

Essential Experience and Skills

  • ​​Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field

  • Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years of increasing responsibility in aggregate operations, including plant management, quality control, equipment maintenance, etc. or other applicable experience(s)

  • Strong understanding of geology, various mining methods, and quality control parameter

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations governing aggregate operations

  • Excellent personal interaction and organizational skills as well as presentation and leadership skills

  • Computer literate including Microsoft Office, SAP

  • Motivated to assume and manage all aspects associated with the role such as frequent travel between sites, managing multiple priorities, dealing with urgent situations, and working irregular schedules

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • 10+ years of increasing responsibility in aggregate operations including plant management, quality control, equipment maintenance, etc. or other applicable experience(s)

  • Multi-site experience

Work Environment

  • Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions
