WestRock Company Financial Analyst in Duluth, Georgia

The opportunity:

This Financial Analyst opportunity supports the recycled fiber supply procurement group. You will serve as the primary point of contact for the recycling plant managers, providing updates and variance analysis of monthly actuals vs. forecasts. You will work closely with the mill supply managers to build the annual budget and monthly forecast for material expenses and facility operational cost. You will partner with plant managers to provide ongoing reporting and analysis of financials to drive decisions that positively impact performance and financial commitments.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Partner with recycling plant managers to build an annual fiscal budget and monthly forecast.

  • Ensure that annual budgets reflect the impact of all capital projects and initiatives, and improvement efforts are consolidated at the business unit level in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Responsible for performing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.

  • Support finance manager of fiber supply with reporting and completing special projects request.

  • Analyze plant level cost impacts and identify cost savings opportunities.

  • Partner with accounting to ensure costs are rolling up correctly and allocated to specific business units.

  • Conduct variance analysis for material expense actuals vs. forecast and communicate with the drivers at an actionable level.

  • Manage reporting for operational and capital investment on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis and assist regional managers in managing their specific cost statements.

  • Facilitate business engagement and dialogue on business performance to communicate improvement plans and adjust forecast accordingly.

  • Develop and manage defined communication channels across various stakeholder groups to build effective relationships and communicate profit improvements efforts.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor\u2019s degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related major.

  • 2+ years of accounting or financial analyst experience.

  • Possess a broad knowledge of accounting, budgeting, cost/variance analysis, and interpretation of financial results.

  • Ability to perform business analysis and work in a fast-paced, dynamic position working with many cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in Excel with pivot tables and v-lookups; the ability to understand and utilize complex formulas.

  • Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies between estimated and actual budgets, forecasts, and P&Ls.

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well under tight time constraints and highly organized.

  • Demonstrated ability to build the business through improved analysis, trending, and reporting.

  • Sound business judgment and strong mindfulness.

  • Demonstrated team-builder, with the ability to collaborate with other individuals and disciplines.

  • Would be a bonus to have Altryx or Power BI, but not required.
