About the role:

WEG Electric Corp. has a great opportunity for an Electrical Designer to join our team in Duluth, GA. This role works on prototype developments and customized systems by carrying out assigned tasks, such as preparing schematic drawings and BOM, completing panel assembly for control and power wiring, and setting up parts and drawings in SAP system. This role will propose solutions for quality improvement and cost reduction on standard designs and customized assemblies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Works with team develop concepts or individually developed concepts for new module developments.

  • Redesigns and improves existing assemblies.

  • Works with outside vendors to source suitable materials and components for prototype assemblies.

  • Supports panel shop with schematic drawings, guidance and assist with assembly.

  • Participates in special projects and/or developments for new products and production support.

  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED required. Degree in Electrical Technology or Engineering is preferred.

Knowledge / training:

  • Knowledge of electrical components and circuits - switchgear, transformer, drive assembly and testing.

  • Knowledge of basics (UL/IEC) Standards Requirements to be used in design and safety of overall product.

  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Basic knowledge of panel shop production process and material procurement process.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of electrical panel assembly, testing, circuit design, product development and improvement - for Low Voltage as well as Medium Voltage Drive System and Soft Starter equipment. Design and sourcing of components required for improving product performance and/or localizing drive system assemblies for customized design. Preparation of schematic drawings, Wiring Tables and Bill of Materials and for production orders. Participation in ISO audits and ensure process compliance documentation and records. Administrative duties such as maintaining record of orders, design variations, customized components and vendor quotations. Participation on as needed basis with prototype assemblies and testing performance.
